SIX MEN
A film by Cecily Brennan
These six characters are fictional. The film SIX MEN imagines what it is to be mad, in particular to be psychotic, and describes the utter isolation experienced by sufferers of psychotic breakdown. THE VOICE HEARER: assaulted and tormented by predatory voices. CIRCADIAN MAN: carrying his light with him at all times convinced that it will prevent repetition of his devastating bipolar episodes. SAD MAN: out of hospital, desperately lonely and endlessly walking in his home and in the streets around his home. THE BATTLER: manic, convinced that he can save the world. THE ROLLER: a schoolboy whose first time drug-taking at a festival triggers a psychotic episode. RAGE: paranoid and incomprehensible, suffering breakdown of language and control.
