Earth Day ancient tree costume making

Event @ Pontio, Bangor

Crone Cast invite you to an Earth Day costume making workshop as part of Cylch 4: Crone Cast + the Ancients

Preparation for the workshop / creating your costume at home.m4a
Wanda Zyborska

If you attended the workshop on 18th April, this is an opportunity to continue work on your costume… and if not, it is an opportunity to begin/bring with you what you have done at home.

We will also be planning a performance including sound, movement, protest about the destruction of trees at Parc y Coleg and designs for their protection. The resulting performance will be part of Forest Comes to Pontio on Saturday 27th May.

Creating your costume at home/in preparation for attending the workshop

Collect materials for costumes and visual aids to becoming ancient tree. Consider choosing a particular ancient tree or species of tree to become with, or you may choose a hybrid transformation.

Your costume could be as light as a single leaf, or you can join with the crones in full, dendritic, socially distanced attire. You could make one or more of the following:

  • Mask

  • Leaf brooch

  • Crown or headdress

  • Name badge (ancient tree name)

  • Staff (bring suitable branch)

  • Socially distanced attire (bring dress for downcycling)

Materials - bring with you some of the following:

·      Leaves

·      Twigs

·      Bark

·      Clothing suitable for downcycling in natural colours, greens and browns

·      Something that provides ‘structure’ for crown, headdress or wide skirt

·      Materials that suggest leaves or bark

·      Safety pins, sewing kits, string, tape.
